Since 2012, Kathy has led the Brand & Engagement division of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). AIA, the voice of the architecture profession since 1857, currently serves more than 94,000 members, most of whom are licensed architects. The Brand & Engagement division supports a goal of extending the value of architecture and architects to the public at large as well as those who influence how the public perceives the profession. It includes the brand, strategic communications & content, public awareness, strategic marketing, corporate partnerships and conference teams at AIA.
The AIA Conference on Architecture is more than 150 years old. In 2018, it attracted more than 26,000 attendees and 700+ exhibitors across 190,000+ net square feet. Intentionally repositioned over the past four years, the event has become more relevant and modern to architects, primarily those in the U.S.
From 2008-2012, Kathy was Chief Marketing Officer for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which represents the interests of professional fundraisers and the charities they serve around the world. Before that, she served in leadership capacities with the Society for Human Resource Management, one of the largest and most influential associations in the U.S., culminating in her position as Chief External Affairs Officer, leading the strategic communications and advocacy teams.
